The papers contain an unsigned journal, 1827, concerning social life of the Bolling, Eldridge, and Hubard families, personal financial accounts, sales of slaves, fugitive slaves, and the hire of a free African-American to do ditching. There are also letters, 1854, from Charles Jones to Robert Thruston Hubard, regarding business matters, their tobacco crops, the health of his slaves, and the sale of one slave.
